In Support of the Learning Resource Center
Tucked away in McDonnell Hall is a light-filled room that radiates love. The Learning Resource Center (LRC) welcomes diverse learners to Prep’s campus and teaches students to advocate for themselves. It is a safe space for young people struggling to learn and enables Prep to embrace families with children of different learning styles.
The LRC provides support for students with diagnosed learning differences, students on concussion protocol, students dealing with temporary and long-term mental health challenges and students returning from long-term absences due to personal or family circumstances, all free of charge.
Services are delivered by a highly-qualified and compassionate team with support from peer note-takers and Honor Society tutors who want their classmates to succeed. The LRC served 12 intrepid students in its 1994 inaugural year to almost 200 students last year.
Regina Melonson, founder and Director of the Learning Resource Center affirms, “The Learning Resource Center is a critical component of Prep’s academic programming. Our mission is to help equalize the academic playing field for students who find themselves in need of support and/or accommodations due to temporary or longstanding conditions that impact their ability to learn or perform in the classroom. The need is real.”
Your gift to support the Learning Resource Center helps students succeed in their quest for a Catholic, Jesuit high school education in an environment optimized for learning by providing funding for student services and need facility improvements.
Our goal is to raise $250,000.
