Immersion Programs
We recognize the value of advocacy and service with our hands. Prep's immersion programs range from local to international, with a lens on the social justice issues involved within a wide range of topics. We encourage students to take a leadership role in understanding, navigating, and ultimately being part of the solution.
Past experiences include working with Shirts Across America to send delegations to New Orleans to help rebuild the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina and a community service project in Vietnam and Cambodia.
Current immersion offerings include the opportunity to alongside farmworker communities in Whatcom County and learn about faith-based organizing, the chance to spend time in intentional community with L’Arche Tahoma, a service-learning program focused on housing instability Seattle, and an immersive program of service and accompaniment in the Dominican Republic with Education Across Borders.
Our Perspective
By emphasizing service quality over quantity, Seattle Prep cultivates a lifelong commitment to helping others. Our graduates leave with a profound understanding of the transformative power of service and carry this spirit of giving into their future endeavors, making a lasting impact wherever they go.
Education Across Borders
Profile in Service
The service trip was a transformative journey that challenged the students’ preconceptions of life in the Dominican Republic. Students walked away from this profound experience with a better understanding of the power of their actions and their responsibility to affect change, and the power of community despite the lack of material goods. The experience underscored the significance of service trips in shaping young minds and fostering global citizenship. These young individuals emerged from the trip with a shared commitment to creating a better world, driven by empathy, understanding and a profound desire to uplift others.
