Boys Basketball

Program Philosophy

Prep's boys' basketball program is another co-curricular used to help form our students in the mission of our school and the Graduate at Graduation. Our core beliefs are rooted in the Jesuit tenets Virtus in Arduis, the Magis, and ad majorem Dei gloriam

We believe playing hard is a skill and there is an inherent goodness that shows up in our play on the court when we do simple things well.

We desire to be a team that plays hard, plays smart, and competes at the highest levels of high school basketball while developing important life skills and becoming more selfless and gritty. We aim to play a brand of basketball that reflects this.

PROGRAM HEAD

In his first full year at Seattle Prep, Dan Kriley, brings over twenty years of experience to McHugh Gymnasium.  In his most recent position, Kriley led West Seattle High School to back-to-back state tournament appearances and demonstrated consistent success in the Metro League.

Kriley’s roots in the community run deep, both in and out of coaching.  Growing up in Seattle, Kriley attended St. Alphonsus grammar school and played in the Metro League at Ballard High School.  Following a collegiate basketball career and graduating from Seattle Pacific University, he started working his way up the coaching ranks.  Significant stops along the way included a 4-year stint as the men’s head coach and athletic director at Pierce College in Tacoma, and a 9-year run at Seattle University, highlighted by five seasons as head coach of the women’s program where he piloted the Redhawks to a 77-60 record in their transition back to Division I.
