A Performance from Seattle Prep's Window Choir

Immerse yourself in the Christmas spirit as Seattle Prep's Choir presents a mesmerizing performance of the classic "Do You Hear What I Hear." Join us on December 16 in the Healy Chapel Theater as our talented choir, under the direction of Elliot Weeks, brings timeless Christmas songs to life with angelic harmonies and powerful vocals. Let the joy and warmth of the season take over as our young performers showcase their dedication and musical prowess.

Seattle Prep’s Music Program focuses on fostering a positive, creative, and empowering environment for students to cultivate their musical and artistic skills. Through learning musical techniques, a variety of musical styles and traditions, as well as performing at their highest ability, students also learn leadership, teamwork, and community-building with one another as a performing ensemble.

Student ensembles at Seattle Prep perform throughout the year both on and off campus. Ensembles include the Seattle Prep Window Choir, Concert Choir, and Jazz Band. There are additional courses that students may take as part of the arts curriculum at Seattle Prep, including Freshman Band, Freshman Choir, Freshman Popular Music in America, Songwriting and Music in the Movies.

Window Choir

Window Choir is open to all students grades 9 – 12. They rehearse every window period and are the most active of the performing ensembles at Seattle Prep, performing in both Fall and Spring semesters. There are plenty of performing opportunities for students interested in joining Window Choir, ranging from the Christmas Concert and Benaroya Hall performances to the Coffeehouse talent show to various festivals and competitions around the state.

Concert Choir

The Concert Choir performs during the Fall semester and is open as an academic Arts class to students grades 10 – 12. This ensemble rehearses during the school day and combines with Window Choir for three major performances: The Fall Concert, the Christmas Concert, and the Benaroya Hall performance.

Jazz Band

The only instrumental ensemble at Prep, the Jazz Band is open as an academic class to students grades 10 – 12 in the Spring semester. This ensemble explores the approaches, history, and various styles of jazz music. Concepts such as improvisation, advanced harmonic concepts, and stylistic interpretation are discussed and solidified. The Jazz Band performs in the Spring semester as a part of Arts Week, as well as at several other events around the school.
