Important Information & Dates

Panther Day

Panther Day
Panther Day June 11, 2017 (Sunday): 1:00-7:00pm / Family Mass & BBQ: 5:00-7:00pm

Seattle Prep will host all incoming freshmen on Sunday, June 11 for a day of fun, food, and fellowship. While most rising ninth graders are excited to be transitioning into high school, many of them are also experiencing some level of anxiety. It is natural and normal for incoming freshmen to experience equal parts excitement and fear with this new stage of life. Panther Day is designed to help alleviate some of those fears.

On Panther Day, freshmen will meet their Peer Mentor, interact with other students in the class of 2021, and familiarize themselves with Prep's campus while learning what it means to be at a Jesuit school. Freshmen should wear comfortable clothes suitable for participation in active games; and they should be prepared for inclement weather as June is often unpredictable outdoors. A heavy snack will be provided.

All incoming freshman families are invited to join us on campus for mass and a BBQ. Come at 5:00pm to celebrate mass with us in the Fr. Thomas F. Healy SJ Chapel and Theater or come at 6:00pm for the family BBQ. All family members are invited!

Summer Reading

Summer Reading
It is time to gear up for Summer Reading! We encourage students to choose some fun and engaging books to read, both fiction and non-fiction, as part of their summer activities. All Seattle Prep students are required to read two books over the course of the summer. All Prep students will read Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford, and the 9th grade class will read The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. Click here for an overview of summer reading, including how you will be tested on the books and a Freshman Literature Review chart to help you organize your thoughts. Click here for a Study Guide for The Secret Life of Bees.

To see a full list of summer reading by grade, click here.

At the beginning of the school year, students will 1) take an objective test on the grade level specific book and 2) participate in a graded discussion on the book the entire school reads. Students enrolled in one of the Prep summer school reading classes will read the grade level specific book and take the objective test as part of the class.

Textbooks & Schedules

To see a list all of the textbooks that are required for each course, click here. Students should consult their course schedules to determine which textbooks will need to be purchased for the start of the fall semester. Course schedules will be made available in mid-August. You will be notified via email once schedules are available.

Student Accounts

Seattle Prep uses a system of Student Accounts for student charges throughout the school year.

Rather than require parents to send checks and cash for incidental charges throughout the year, the Accounting Office adds these charges to each student’s account every month. Please log into your Veracross parent portal to see these charges.

Student Accounts are used for various expenses including:
books/apps/digital subscriptions
AP exams, honor cords
dances
retreats/field trips/service trips
athletic fees

Student Accounts are NOT used for lunch and cafeteria expenses. Families need to sign-up for MySchoolBucks to purchase food/beverages at school.

Lunch Accounts

In mid August, students who are interested in purchasing lunch at school will register with MySchoolBucks for all payments. This online payment service provides a quick and easy way to add money to your student’s meal account using a credit/debit card or electronic check.

  1. Student ID numbers are required for registration, and will be delivered to families in mid-August.
  2. Further instructions will be provided here at that time.

You will have the opportunity to review any fees and cancel if you choose, before you are charged. There is a $2 charge per transaction.

If you have any questions about registering with this online system contact MySchoolBucks directly:

Those who qualify for assistance with food costs from Prep still need to create an account. We will have the ability to add lunch assistance to each individual student’s account each month. Questions about financial assistance for lunch should be directed to Mr. Deino Scott, Director of Diversity, at dscott@seaprep.org.

Window Class Sign-Ups

Sign-ups for Window Classes will take place on Tuesday, August 29. To read descriptions of the offerings, please click here.
