Panther Day June 11, 2017 (Sunday): 1:00-7:00pm / Family Mass & BBQ: 5:00-7:00pm
Seattle Prep will host all incoming freshmen on Sunday, June 11 for a day of fun, food, and fellowship. While most rising ninth graders are excited to be transitioning into high school, many of them are also experiencing some level of anxiety. It is natural and normal for incoming freshmen to experience equal parts excitement and fear with this new stage of life. Panther Day is designed to help alleviate some of those fears.
On Panther Day, freshmen will meet their Peer Mentor, interact with other students in the class of 2021, and familiarize themselves with Prep's campus while learning what it means to be at a Jesuit school. Freshmen should wear comfortable clothes suitable for participation in active games; and they should be prepared for inclement weather as June is often unpredictable outdoors. A heavy snack will be provided.
All incoming freshman families are invited to join us on campus for mass and a BBQ. Come at 5:00pm to celebrate mass with us in the Fr. Thomas F. Healy SJ Chapel and Theater or come at 6:00pm for the family BBQ. All family members are invited!
Summer School, Athletic Camps, and Co-Curricular Programs
Summer school courses are available to all of our incoming freshmen students. Courses include academic, athletic and co-curricular offerings. Click here to jump to our summer programming page.
Freshmen should report to the Fr. Thomas F. Healy SJ Chapel and Theater by 7:45am on Thursday, August 24, 2017. There will be a break for lunch, so please bring a sack lunch. Students will not need their books. Programming runs for a full school day (7:45am – 2:40pm). More detailed information on this event will be coming in early August.
Yearbook / Student ID Photos
During Freshman Orientation students will take their Yearbook/Student ID photos. If parents or students would like to order a Yuen Lui photo package in advance, please click here.
First Day of School
The first day of instruction will be Friday, August 25, 2017. More specific information will be made available in the coming months.
Freshman Parent Night will take place on Monday, August 21 (7:00-9:00pm). Our Parent Association will be greeting parents with smiles, coffee, water, and finger foods from 6:30-6:55pm in the Paccar Commons. Programming will start promptly at 7:00pm in the Fr. Thomas F. Healy SJ Chapel and Theater. The event will be an opportunity for administrators to communicate Prep’s Ignatian philosophy and how it relates to academics and student life. This event is for parents only.
Please mark your calendars for this year’s Back to School Nights. This is a great opportunity for parents to follow their student’s schedule, meet teachers, and learn more about their student’s classes for the year.
- Parents of Juniors and Seniors – September 5, 2017 – 7:00 PM-9:00PM

It is time to gear up for Summer Reading! We encourage students to choose some fun and engaging books to read, both fiction and non-fiction, as part of their summer activities. All Seattle Prep students are required to read two books over the course of the summer. All Prep students will read Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford, and the 9th grade class will read The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. Click here for an overview of summer reading, including how you will be tested on the books and a Freshman Literature Review chart to help you organize your thoughts. Click here for a Study Guide for The Secret Life of Bees.
To see a full list of summer reading by grade, click here.
At the beginning of the school year, students will 1) take an objective test on the grade level specific book and 2) participate in a graded discussion on the book the entire school reads. Students enrolled in one of the Prep summer school reading classes will read the grade level specific book and take the objective test as part of the class.
To see a list all of the textbooks that are required for each course, click here. Students should consult their course schedules to determine which textbooks will need to be purchased for the start of the fall semester. Course schedules will be made available in mid-August. You will be notified via email once schedules are available.
Seattle Prep uses a system of Student Accounts for student charges throughout the school year.
Rather than require parents to send checks and cash for incidental charges throughout the year, the Accounting Office adds these charges to each student’s account every month. Please log into your Veracross parent portal to see these charges.
Student Accounts are used for various expenses including:
AP exams, honor cords
retreats/field trips/service trips
Student Accounts are NOT used for lunch and cafeteria expenses. Families need to sign-up for MySchoolBucks to purchase food/beverages at school.
In mid August, students who are interested in purchasing lunch at school will register with MySchoolBucks for all payments. This online payment service provides a quick and easy way to add money to your student’s meal account using a credit/debit card or electronic check.
- Student ID numbers are required for registration, and will be delivered to families in mid-August.
- Further instructions will be provided here at that time.
You will have the opportunity to review any fees and cancel if you choose, before you are charged. There is a $2 charge per transaction.
If you have any questions about registering with this online system contact MySchoolBucks directly:
Those who qualify for assistance with food costs from Prep still need to create an account. We will have the ability to add lunch assistance to each individual student’s account each month. Questions about financial assistance for lunch should be directed to Mr. Deino Scott, Director of Diversity, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Interested in forming carpools? Please contact Teresa Fields (email@example.com) in the Attendance Office to receive a list of families organized by zip codes.
Starting August 1, you may also search for families in your area using the Veracross Parent Portal Directory. Click here for instructions how to navigate this useful feature
This year Seattle Prep is offering four morning bus routes (north, south, east & west) with eleven bus stops beginning August 25th (the first full day of classes). PLEASE NOTE: All pickup times are 5 minutes earlier for the 2017-18 school year due to traffic concerns. The North End route is contingent upon the enrollment of at least 5 students by August 21st. The morning shuttle is a safe and convenient way to get to school every morning and all four routes still have some spaces available.Check the schedule on the attached contract to see if there’s a stop near you! Send the completed Transportation Contract along with your non-refundable $100 deposit to Seattle Prep by August 5 to reserve your spot.
