Summer Reading
With a mantra of "read more" and "read widely" Prep is focused on the following summer reading goals:
- Foster a love of reading
- Build a community of readers
- Expose students to new books and genres
- Provide students with some choice
- Promote accountability without high-stakes assessment
Click here to read grade-level requirements.
* 10th-12th grade students signed up to read a faculty-sponsored book. To find the title, students should look for the spreadsheet they received last spring or visit the summer reading section of the McKay Library OneNote Notebook.
Textbooks
Click here to view our textbook list. Students and parents will receive an email when schedules are available in mid-August. Once they know their class schedules, students can navigate our textbook list to determine what materials they will need for each of their classes. We recommend families wait to purchase textbooks until class schedules are available in mid-August for those classes which students are not certain they will be enrolled in.

SENIORS
All Senior Yearbook FORMAL Portraits will be taken at Prep August 25. Your Yearbook color photo is a FORMAL graduation photo, so the following dress requirements must be followed if you wish to have your picture included in the yearbook:
Boys: A dress shirt and tie. (Optional: a sport jacket, suit or dress sweater)
Girls: A dress or a dress sweater or a dress blouse.
No exceptions will be made to these requirements.
Come August 25th dressed and ready for your sitting (ASB Card photo will be taken at the same time).
These portrait sittings are FREE and a copy of that photo will automatically be sent to our Yearbook staff. You have the OPTION of going into a studio for your Yearbook Formal Portrait if you wish. If you choose this, you must request a “one-inch head size” and a BLUE BACKGROUND. Your studio picture must be taken by August 20. If you have portraits taken in the Yuen Lui studio, they will send the photo directly to the Seattle Prep Yearbook. If you have questions, please email the Yearbook adviser, Mr. Danielson.
FYI: Seniors: IF you are going into a studio for your portrait, MAKE YOUR APPOINTMENT NOW! These spots fill up quickly.

Seattle Prep is again offering four morning bus routes (north, south, east & west) with eleven bus stops beginning Monday, August 30 (the first full day of classes).

Check the schedule on the attached contract to see if there’s a stop near you! Send the completed Transportation Contract along with your non-refundable $100 deposit to Seattle Prep by August 18 to reserve your spot. Contact Manny Ovena or 206-577-2138 if you have any questions.

Student Accounts
Seattle Prep uses a system of Student Accounts for student charges throughout the school year.
Rather than require parents to send checks and cash for incidental charges throughout the year, the Accounting Office adds these charges to each student’s account every month. Please log into your Veracross Parent Portal to see these charges.
Student Accounts are used for various expenses including:
- books/apps/digital subscriptions
- AP exams, honor cords
- dances
- field trips/service trips
- athletic fees
Student Accounts are NOT used for lunch and cafeteria expenses. Families need to sign-up for MySchoolBucks to purchase food/beverages at school.
