Endowments

The Seattle Preparatory School Endowment

Many alumni feel their time at Prep had an important influence in their lives, and they want other students to share this experience. They create an endowment to facilitate that process. Individuals also choose to create an endowment as a tribute to someone special, such as a parent, teacher or classmate.

There are dozens of named endowments and funds established to provide future Panthers with a Seattle Prep education. Most funds provide valuable financial assistance for students; others support school programs like the Regina Melonson Learning Resource Center, science, the drama and yearbook programs, or technology. Collectively, these funds are known as the Seattle Preparatory School Endowment.

Actual Cost of Education

A strong endowment is vital to a vibrant Prep community. The cost of a Prep education for 2021-22 is $28,025. To be as accessible as possible, tuition is $22,750. Earnings from endowments and Annual Fund contributions make up the difference.

This year Prep awarded over $3,500,000 in financial assistance, helping 31% of Prep students pursue a Jesuit education. Your financial support of endowments makes this possible.

Establishing an Endowment

Establishing a named endowment begins with a gift or pledge (paid over five years) of $50,000. Donors can fund an endowment alone, with classmates, or with family and friends. They can also be funded through a donor-advised fund, stock gift, foundation grant or an estate gift. Endowments with less than $50,000 in contributions support tuition assistance awards through the Seattle Preparatory School Endowment.

Graduation and class reunions are a great time to talk with your classmates about building your Prep legacy through a class endowment.
