2023 Fall Sport Tryout information
All interested student-athletes must complete and submit all required forms through Magnus Health to be eligible to participate in athletics. These forms must be completed before the start of tryouts/practice. *Note: Physical forms are valid for two years. The physical exam form can be found here.
Come August 16-21, more than 450 Panthers will be turning out for one of our fall sport offerings. Below is a general schedule for the first week of tryouts and/or practices for each sport. For more detailed information, please reach out to the specific Program Head (e-mails below).
If you are interested in participating in a sport and want to ensure you are receiving any and all updates, please reach out to Zoe Haywood, Administrative Assistant to Student Life & Athletics, to be added to a list. - Beginning Wednesday, August 16:
- Football (Program Head Aaron Maul; Freshmen Co-Head Coach Dan Bean) - Football is a non-cut sport.
- 8/14: Panther Pride Football Parent Information Night - 6:30pm in the Theater
- 8/16: Equipment issue 1pm / Team Meeting 2pm Room I103 / Practice 3:15-5:30pm at Montlake Playfield
- 8/17-19: Team calendar will be issued at the Parent Meeting.

- Beginning Monday, August 21:
- Boys & Girls Crew (Program Head Mark Davis)
- 8/21-8/25: Varsity and JV tryouts daily, 3:00-5:30pm
- 8/28: Freshmen/Novice Tryouts (no cuts) 3:00-5:30pm.
- Boys Cross Country (Program Head Andrew Walker) - Cross Country is a non-cut sport.
- 8/21: All interested participants should meet on campus (Ignatius 200) at 9C:00am. Come ready to run.
- 8/22-25: Practice begins at 3pm daily, meeting in Ignatius 200
- 8/26: Run starts at 9am, meeting at the South Kirkland Park & Ride (the lot NW of the parking structure). A bus will leave Seattle Prep at 8:40am for anyone needing a ride.
- Girls Cross Country (Program Head Aimee Corr) - Cross Country is a non-cut sport.
- 8/21: All interested participants should meet on campus (Ignatius 103) at 3:00pm. Come ready to run.
- 8/22-25: Practice begins at 3pm daily, meeting in Ignatius 103.
- 8/23: Parent meeting will be held at 7pm in Ignatius 103.
- 8/26: Meeting at Lower Woodland in between the tennis courts and the track at 9 am.
- Boys & Girls Golf (Program Head Gilbert Quitlong) - The team will consist of 13 boys (8 Varsity and 5 Junior Varsity) and 13 girls (8 Varsity and 5 Junior Varsity). Players on Junior Varsity will always be competing for Varsity spots throughout the season. The need for cuts will be determined by the number of student-athletes who turn out.
- Tryouts will run Monday, 8/21 through Wednesday, 8/23. Tryouts will be a three-day event of the front-9 at Jefferson Park Golf Course (8/21-22) and West Seattle Golf Course (8/23). Players are advised to be at Jefferson Park Golf Course at 2:30pm, with tee times starting around 3pm and 3:30pm, range balls will be provided for warmup. Players are advised to be at West Seattle Golf Course at 2:30pm, with tee times starting at 3pm. Tee times will be provided the day before tryouts. All interested student-athletes MUST communicate their intention to tryout to Coach Quitlong BEFORE Monday, 8/21. Students not on the list will not be allowed to tryout, as tee times must be made in advance.
- 8/24: Practice at Jefferson, beginning at 3:30pm (Range/Short Game).
- 8/25: Practice at Seattle Prep, beginning at 3:00pm (Classroom).
- Girls Soccer (Program Head Andy Hendricks) - Three teams (Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshmen) will be formed. The number of cuts will be determined by the number of student-athletes who turn out.
- 8/21-23: Tryouts will be held Monday-Wednesday, 3:45-6:00pm at Magnuson #7 (7400 Sand Point Way, EC). Rosters will be posted following the 3rd tryout session.
- 8/24-25: Training 3:45-5:45pm at Magnuson #7
- Girls Swim & Dive (Program Head Kirsti Rochon) - Girls Swim & Dive is traditionally a non-cut sport.
- 8/21: Season opening retreat runs 10am-4pm. Swim practice at Normandy Park Swim Club (17655 12th Ave SW, Normandy Park) from 10-11:30am. Then walk a short distance to a Prep-family house for lunch, games and team-building. Please bring a suit, goggles, towel, notebook, pencil and a water bottle.
- 8/22-8/25: Practice will be held 8-9pm at Sand Point Country Club (8333 55th Ave NE, Seattle) due to the annual maintenance and our home pool, Seattle University.
- 8/27: Parent Meeting and Family BBQ, 4-6pm. Join us at a Prep-family house to meet families, set-up carpools and learn about volunteer opportunities this season.
- Volleyball (Program Head Zoe Haywood) - Three teams (Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshmen) will be formed. The number of cuts will be determined by the number of student-athletes who turn out.
- 8/21-23: Tryouts will be held Monday-Wednesday, 3:30-5:30pm. Returners will be in McHugh Gym and incoming Freshman in the Merlino Center. Athletes should arrive in athletic attire including knee pads and a t-shirt. Please no tank tops. Everyone is encouraged to bring a water bottle but there is no need to bring anything else, please do not bring your own ball. Teams will be finalized and posted to the Seattle Prep Athletics website on Wednesday evening.
- 8/24-25: Regular practices begin. Coaches will communicate schedules as needed.

Submitting Athletic Forms - Magnus Health
It is required that every student have the documents located in Magnus Health completed on their behalf before the start of school. Physical forms are valid for two years, we are requiring this document to be uploaded to Magnus Health. If you have questions please reach out to Zoe Haywood, Assistant Director of Student Life and Athletics.
Magnus Health Account Access:
Visit the Prep website to access your secured Veracross account, in the Parent Portal. After you have signed into Veracross, click on the orange Magnus Health Button to gain access.
If you are have difficulty navigating the Magnus system, entering data online, downloading the hardcopy coversheets and forms, or if you have any other questions, please contact customer support at Magnus Health SMR by phone at 877-461-6831 or by email, here.
All forms must be uploaded to Magnus for each enrolled child by Aug 14, 2023 as they must be completed prior to the start of 2023-2024 school year. This is a required step for participation in athletics.
