Fall Sports Begin
Fall sports tryouts/practice begin on Monday, August 26 for fall athletic programs, with the exception of Football, which begins Wednesday, August 21.
Tryout schedules will be posted the first week of August. All student athletes will need to complete all required forms through Magnus Health to be eligible to participate in athletics. These forms must be completed before the start of tryouts/practice.
*Note: Physical forms are valid for two years. We are requiring this document to be uploaded to the Magnus Health portal. The physical exam form can be found here.
Senior Orientation - 8/26
Orientation for seniors will begin at 8:30AM on Monday, August 26.
Seniors will take their yearbook photo, meet with college counselors, and finish leadership curriculum they started during the Ignatian Leadership Conference last spring.
All seniors are expected to attend orientation beginning at 8:30AM and finishing by 11:00AM. Seniors will receive an email, Monday, August 19, previewing their Orientation. Seniors will need to bring their Microsoft Surface Laptops and should report to the gym upon arrival.

Junior Orientation - 8/26
Orientation for juniors begins at 12:00PM on Monday, August 26.
All juniors are expected to attend orientation. Juniors will need to bring their Microsoft Surface Laptops and should report to the theater upon arrival.
Juniors will take their yearbook photo, meet with college counselors, and receive important Student Life information to start the school year. Orientation will end by 2:30PM.

Sophomore Orientation - 8/27
Orientation for sophomores begins at 8:30AM on Tuesday, August 27. Sophomores will need their Microsoft Surface Laptops and should arrive by 8:15AM and report directly to the theater.
All sophomores are expected to attend orientation. Sophomores will take their yearbook photo, meet with their counselors, and participate in other important Student Life programming. Orientation will end by 11:00AM.

Freshman Orientation - 8/27-28
Freshman Orientation Day 1 is on Tuesday, August 27 from 11:30AM – 2:30PM. Lunch will not be provided, so please plan to eat before arriving. Students should meet in the Theater by 11:30AM. Programming for Day 1 will include: yearbook photos, visits with various departments on campus, and community time with their Peer Mentors.
Freshman Orientation Day 2
is on Wednesday, August 28 from 7:45AM – 2:40PM. Students will receive their Microsoft Surface Laptop and participate in a Tech Training session.
There will be a lunch break so please bring a sack lunch. Orientation runs for a full school day (7:45AM - 2:40PM). More detailed information on this event to come in early August.
Yearbook / Student ID Photos
During Freshman Orientation students will take their Yearbook/Student ID photos. See detailed information in the "Other Information" tab on this page.
Microsoft Surface Distribution
Freshmen will receive their Microsoft Surface Laptops during Freshman Orientation.

Freshman Parent Night - 8/27
Tuesday, August 27, 7:00PM
Freshman Parent Night will take place at Prep on Tuesday, August 27, at 7:00PM. Check-in begins at 6:45PM. This will be an opportunity for all freshman parents to meet one another and to hear from administrators about Prep’s Ignatian philosophy and how it relates to academics and student life. This event is for parents only. The program will last about one hour.

First Day of Classes - 8/29
Back-to-School Dance - 8/30
Back-To-School Dance & Social
Friday, August 30, 7:30PM
All students are invited to the optional Back-to-School Dance & Social that will take place at Prep from 7:30PM – 9:00PM.
There will be an ice cream social at Prep for Freshmen and their Peer Mentors prior to the dance starting at 6:30PM. This will be discussed further at Freshman Parent Night on August 27.
More information will be sent out closer to the beginning of the school year. Questions can be directed to studentlife@seaprep.org.

Microsoft Surface information
Seattle Prep's required One-to-One Program device for all students is the Microsoft Surface Laptop.
Frequently asked questions about our One-to-One Program and the Microsoft Surface can be found here.
A protective case for all Surfaces is required for each student.
• New incoming students: A protective rubber case will be provided as part of the Microsoft Surface Pro ‘bundle’ that we will distribute on Freshman Orientation.
• Current students with existing protective case: No action required.
• Current students with no protective case: We highly recommend the purchase of one of the following cases:

Student Schedules
Summer Reading
Students are encouraged to READ, pursuing their own reading interests over the summer. The formal summer reading requirements for all students can be found here. All rising 10th-12th grade students will be participating in a one-time sponsored book discussion in the fall. Students can look their group up here. Please help them borrow or buy the title they signed up for over the summer. This is a great list of book recommendations for parents too!

Textbooks, Calculators, & Supplies
Textbooks
Seattle Prep will supply students with the textbooks and novels they need and will charge student accounts in the fall. The school provides all textbooks to ensure clean copies of the correct edition. Families should not purchase books outside of Seattle Prep. Students may not use previously-owned books as new copies are needed to learn annotation skills.
On rare occasions, families may be asked to purchase a textbook on their own. These will be communicated by the teacher at the beginning of the semester. All resources are required.
Calculator Requirements
Every student for all math classes must have the TI-84 Plus or Plus CE Color graphing calculator.
Contact Department Head Kelly Young if you have questions. If you need financial assistance with the purchase of your calculator, please contact Manny Ovena in the Accounting Office at 206-577-2138 prior to purchasing your calculator.
Supplies
Seattle Prep does not publish a school supply list. Students should have basic supplies (pens, pencils, paper) at the beginning of the school year. Individual teachers will communicate specific supply needs (i.e composition notebook, graph paper, binder, etc.) at the beginning of the semester. Organization and supply need are otherwise determined by the individual student/family.

Carpooling Information
Seattle Prep does not organize carpools. As a resource, starting now, you may search for families in your area using the Veracross Parent Portal Directory. Click here for instructions how to navigate this useful feature.
Please be mindful that all cars need to be registered regardless of whether or not they are parked in the garage. Freshmen are not allowed to drive to school. Sophomores with a carpool of 3 or more are allowed to drive to school. Exceptions may be made for emergency circumstances.
Dress Code Policy
Please be attentive to the school's dress code when purchasing clothes for school. It is as follows:
Students should wear clothing and practice personal grooming that respects the dignity of self, other individuals and groups, and promotes effective learning and social environments. To that end, we offer the following guidelines.
Clothing and personal grooming must be neat, clean, respectful and appropriate for the classroom setting. Appropriate includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Clothing must cover areas from one armpit across to the other armpit, down to approximately the midpoint between the waist and the knee.
- Clothing should fully cover undergarments and the midsection.
- Tops must have shoulder straps.
- Clothing must be free of holes, tears, and rips.
- See-through or mesh garments must not be worn without appropriate coverage underneath that meet the minimum requirements of the dress code.
- Clothing with messages communicating double entendres, while humorous, may be inappropriate, possibly offensive, and must not be worn.
- Clothing must be free of messages that promote either violence or drugs, alcohol and/or tobacco use.
- Students are required to wear appropriate clothing and footwear not only during the academic day but at all Prep sponsored events.
Garage Parking
Please be attentive for an email at the end of July that will have a link to an application for a garage parking spot. It is important that you apply for a spot in a timely manner. Criteria for selections is as follows: Long-term medical consideration (1), Distance where distance exceeds 30 miles (2), Carpools of 5 or more (3), Number of students per carpool (4).
Lunch Accounts

In mid August, students who are interested in purchasing lunch at school will register with MySchoolBucks for all payments. This online payment service provides a quick and easy way to add money to your student’s meal account using a credit/debit card or electronic check.
- Student ID numbers are required for registration. Freshmen can access their ID numbers in the Veracross Parent Portal after Monday, August 5. Current students should use their existing ID numbers.
- Further instructions will be provided here at that time.
You will have the opportunity to review any fees and cancel if you choose, before you are charged. There is a $2.99 charge per transaction.

Those who qualify for assistance with food costs from Prep still need to create an account. We will have the ability to add lunch assistance to each individual student’s account each month. Questions about financial assistance for lunch should be directed to Manny Ovena in the Accounting Office.
ID Cards / Yearbook Photos
Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors
All freshmen, sophomores and juniors will have one picture taken during orientation. The picture will serve as the ID picture for the ASB card and the yearbook portrait picture. These portrait pictures will be used in the yearbook, so please dress accordingly. More information about ordering portrait packages to come.
Seniors
All Senior Yearbook FORMAL Portraits will be taken at Prep Monday, August 26. Your Yearbook color photo is a FORMAL graduation photo. The following options are recommended if you wish to have your picture included in the yearbook:
A dress shirt and tie. (Optional: a sport jacket, suit or dress sweater)
A dress or a dress sweater or a dress blouse.
Come Monday, August 26 dressed and ready for your sitting. ASB Card photos will be taken at the same time.
These portrait sittings are free and a copy of that photo will automatically be sent to our Yearbook staff. You have the option of going into a studio for your Yearbook Formal Portrait if you wish. If you choose this, you must request a “one-inch head size” and a blue background. Your studio picture must be taken by Saturday, August 31. If you have portraits taken in the Yuen Lui studio, they will send the photo directly to the Seattle Prep Yearbook. If you have questions, please email the yearbook adviser, Mr. Danielson.

Required Forms - All Students
All students will need to complete required forms through Magnus Health before the start of school.
Magnus Health Account Access:
Visit the Prep website to access your secured Veracross account. There is a link to Veracross in the Parent Portal. (See other tab, "Veracross Parent Portal" if you need instructions.) After you have signed into Veracross, click on the orange Magnus Health Button to gain access.
Questions or Problems:
If you are having difficulty navigating the Magnus system, entering data online, or downloading the hardcopy coversheets and forms, or if you have any other questions, please contact customer support at Magnus Health SMR by phone at 877-461-6831 or by email, here. If you are still having problems with Magnus after calling customer support at Magnus Health, please email student life.
Please plan to complete Magnus forms for each enrolled child by Monday, August 12 as they must be completed prior to the start of school year.

Shuttle Service
Seattle Prep is again offering four morning bus routes (north, south, east & west) with eleven bus stops beginning Thursday, August 29 (the first full day of classes).
All routes will accept registrations until they reach their capacity. The morning shuttle is a safe and convenient way to get to school every morning. Check the schedule on the contract, below, to see if there’s a stop near you! Send the completed Transportation Contract along with your non-refundable $100 deposit to Seattle Prep by Friday, August 16 to reserve your spot. Student Accounts
Seattle Prep uses a system of Student Accounts for student charges throughout the school year.
Rather than require parents to send checks and cash for incidental charges throughout the year, the Accounting Office adds these charges to each student’s account every month. Please log into your Veracross Parent Portal to see these charges.
Student Accounts are used for various expenses including:
- books/apps/digital subscriptions
- AP exams, honor cords
- dances
- field trips/service trips
- athletic fees
Student Accounts are NOT used for lunch and cafeteria expenses. Families need to sign-up for MySchoolBucks to purchase food/beverages at school.
