Girls' Cross Country
Program Philosophy
It is all about the process. We want the girls cross country team to focus on the daily challenge and fun of running a workout. Whether it's 400 meter repeats in the rain or a sunny 45-minute cruise through the Arboretum, Seattle is one of the best running cities in the country and we want the girls to embrace it.
In addition, we want the girls to focus on self-improvement. How much faster can you run in your time at Seattle Prep? Doing your best every day is our team goal. If we focus on improving every day, always doing our best, and enjoying the process we cannot fail.
Finally, we want the girls to have fun. From running Whidbey Island in June, Suncadia in July, or the best invite in the country at the Woodbridge Invitational in California, we aim to provide great experiences that will enhance the SPXC experience and create lifelong memories.

Meet the Coach
Ben Sauvage has been coaching high school cross country for 21 years, including 15 as an assistant and head coach of the Seattle Prep boys team. Ben ran at Eastern Oregon University, where he was inducted into the athletic hall of fame. Ben still competes as a runner having run 38 marathons including 15 Boston Marathons. Ben is a teacher at Lincoln High School and has an amazing wife and two boys.
Ben loves the "be more so you can do more" mentality at Seattle Prep and is thrilled to leading the girls program since 2018. He was named Girls Cross Country Metro League Coach of the Year in 2020-2021, while leading the Panthers to a virtual State Championship (times logged virtually due to COVID-19).
