Health & Exercise Sciences
Department Overview
At Seattle Prep, health and fitness education build a strong foundation of practical application and knowledge by utilizing both academic and kinesthetic experiences. The Health & Exercise Sciences (HEX) department is dedicated to developing the physical abilities and character of each student in order to foster healthy and productive lives.
We seek to incorporate the concept of “persona curae” into the core of the physical education of our students by developing the students’ mental, social, physical, emotional and intellectual abilities. The HEX faculty strives to instill in each student a lifelong appreciation of health and physical well-being. It is our goal to enhance the daily lives of our students.

I graduated from University of Washington with BA in Kinesiology, where I also played volleyball for the Huskies. I taught two years in public schools before coming to Prep in 1986. Along with teaching, I began my coaching career in 1983. Besides coaching volleyball, I have coached high school softball, track and basketball. I spent six years as Head Volleyball Coach at Pacific Lutheran University before taking over the Seattle Prep volleyball program. I have been involved coaching my daughters select softball teams and other youth sport teams for many years.
